Andréana Cortés is a modern classical and flamenco guitarist deeply rooted in the proud Spanish gypsy tradition.  A daughter of flamenco guitarist Enrique (Cortés) Heredia, guitarist for José Greco, the undisputed flamenco dance star of his generation, Andréana brings new relevance to flamenco guitar while never losing sight of her legacy.

 Her early training began under her father’s coaching. Later she continue to broaden flamenco sonorities into modernism studying under flamenco masters like David Serva, Pedro Cortés, Jr.,  John Amir Haddad, and Jose “Chuscales,” Valle  In 2005, Susana di Palma invited Andréana to join Zorongo Flamenco School and Theatre, Minneapolis as dance accompanist.  

In 2016, Andréana earned her BA in Music and Music Composition at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, studying intensively in classical, flamenco and South American music under Tony Hauser.

 

 In the fall of 2018, her uncle, Rene Heredia, principal guitarist for the legendary Carmen Amaya, invited Andréana to join his company Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre as flamenco guitarist and singer where she captivated audiences with her spirited guitar playing and powerful yet emotional vocals in performances across Denver and surrounding areas in venues such as the Mercury Cafe, Caffè Sole (Boulder), Su Teatro, Swallow Hill, and Clock Tower Cabaret.

Not only is Andréana an accomplished flamenco guitarist she is also a versatile musician and artist exhibiting a broad range of genres from classical to adult contemporary. Her compositions range from songwriting to film and TV to composition for choreographed dance.
